Paul Mccartney look-alikes to hit streets of Liverpool

Monday 16 June, 2014
A flock of "Paul McCartneys" – that is, PETA supporters wearing Paul McCartney masks – will descend on Liverpool on Tuesday in honour of the former Beatle's birthday. The demonstrators, who will be positioned outside The Cavern Club – where The Beatles had their first gig, in 1961 – will have free, delicious veggie sausage for passers-by, along with DVDs of "Glass Walls", Paul's PETA video exposé of the meat industry. "We're sure Paul will be delighted that we've chosen to honour his birthday by encouraging the public to give vegetarianism a try", says PETA Associate Director Mimi Bekhechi. "Whether you're 6 or 64 or, in Paul's case, a very young 72, going vegetarian is a great way to help animals, your health and the environment." Not only do vegetarians such as Paul save animals from immense suffering on factory farms, in abattoirs and on the decks of fishing boats, they also have a lower carbon footprint as well as a lower risk of developing heart disease, cancer, diabetes and obesity.
